Beach description

At the end of the 19th century it turned out that the quality of air and water in the Moledo area has a beneficial effect on health and improves well-being. Therefore, since the beginning of the 20th century, Moledo has become the choice of many famous personalities - politicians, scientists, people of art.

In addition to the healing power, Moledo also has other advantages. It is spacious and photogenic; its southern part, outlined by rocky formations is especially beautiful. The beach has excellent conditions for surfing, wind and kitesurfing, bodyboarding. A playground on the soft golden sand and the work of animators and rescuers guarantees a comfortable family-friendly vacation. The well-equipped promenade allows for daily boardwalks. Beach restaurants have a secluded atmosphere and consistent quality of food.

Fans of history are attracted by a 17th-century monument, Ínsua Fort, built as a 6-pointed star. You can sail to the island where the fortress is located by boat. Getting to Moledo Beach itself is just as easy. It is located near the Spanish border, 20.4 kilometers away from Viana do Castelo and 97.4 kilometers from Porto.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
