Benicasim beach

Benicasim is a popular Mediterranean resort located on the coast of Costa del Azahar, famous for its amazing beaches stretching along the coastline, various activities and a lot of architectural sights dating back to Medieval age.

Beach description

Many big and small beaches can be found on Benicasim's coast, and the most popular include:

  • Almadraba, covered in clean grainy sand, is perfect for family vacations with children. It's equipped with changing rooms, toilets, showers and cafes. There's a rental store with umbrellas and sunbeds, but no water sports equipment, and rescue workers operate here. The descent is smooth and the sea bottom is solid and sandy.
  • Torreon Beach with the ancient San Vicente Tower located right near the water is a popular place among youth. The beach is always loud and crowded, with many entertaining events taking place frequently.
  • The big Heliopolis Beach, covered in sand mixed with pebbles and sharp shells, stretches along the coastline. You may need to wear slipper.
  • The sandy El Terrers Beach, with a sailing school located nearby, attracts from afar with the boats moored at the small pier.
  • The sandy Voramar Beach, with villas built in modern style back in the beginning of the 20th century, is considered to be the calmest place on the coast. Voramar is equipped with toilets and showers, and there's a rental store with umbrellas, sunbeds and sports equipment.

When is it better to go

The beach season on the coast of Spain falls on the period from May to October. The water and air temperature reaches the most comfortable levels, thereby guaranteeing tourists a perfect vacation.

Where to stop

A lot of hotels and apartments of different levels operate on Benicasim. You can also rent a private house or a villa. The Intur Bonaire 4* Hotel, located in a colorful three-story building done in Spanish style surrounded by lush gardens on the coast, provides top quality accomodation and service. The following is available for its guests:

  • Where to eat

    Benicasim has a lot of cafes, taverns, traditional restaurants and fast food spots where you can cheaply eat. Most of them are located at the coastal area, on the beaches or nearby. Luxurious restaurants, where you can try gourmet Spanish cuisine and spend your time enjoyably are located in the city center. Mediterranean meals, Spanish in particular, are mainly served here.

    What to do

    The main entertainment center of Benicasim is the Aquarama aquapark with a lot of water attractions, artificial lakes with fresh water, pools for adults and children, the biggest water slide in Europe and underwater rivers.

    An area for young children is available.
  • Numerous cafes, pizzerias etc. operate in Aquarama. There's also a picnic zone where you can set up a picnic with your own food. It's prohibited to bring food in glass containers.
  • The park operates from the second half of June to the middle of September. An adult ticket for the whole day costs 21 Euros, a ticket for children over 6 costs 15 Euros. If you plan to go here from 15:00 to 19:00, an adult ticket will cost 14 Euros, while a children's ticket will cost 10 Euros. Children under 6 don't need a ticket.

Useful information

How to get there

  • You can get to Benicasim by train from either the Sants train station in Barcelona or the Atocha train station in Madrid.
  • Buses drive from Madrid to Benicasim. The departure point is located on the Mendez Alvaro avenue.
  • If you're going to Benicasim by rented car, the best way is to drive from Madrid through Valencia via either the free A-7 highway or the paid AP-7 highway.
